• Cultivate Critical Thinking

Students learn best by processing information themselves rather than being spoon-fed information. For this reason, the DeepRoots Bible curriculum emphasizes asking students questions whenever possible. The long-term goal is to equip students to articulate their beliefs with evidence that supports the Bible.

Group discussions train students how to interact with each other, listen to opposing ideas, wrestle with their own beliefs, and respectfully disagree with others. Through repeated sessions students learn critical thinking, which can be applied to all subjects and life itself.

In Think Like Jesus: Make the Right Decision Every Time, George Barna says “...building the capacity to think like Jesus is not a one time, been-there-done-that experience but an endless, winding journey of discovery, revelation and application.” Through the process of grappling with the discovery of truth and verbalizing positions, students can more easily adopt faith as their own, be more receptive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and apply their beliefs to their unique circumstances.
